Short video on a piece of gear that I've never seen before.
Perhaps you have?
You can use this thread to discuss and show 'other' gear that is rare that you might have or wondered about.

Anyone ever owned/used this Wawasee?

Thanks, D Labs!

Second-worst 'scope ever made.

Worst would be the Transel version of this same setup.

Parts run hot and fail.

What struck me as odd, is that any scope will have a plethora of test points and trimmers.
That scope horizontal axis trace looked like it would never get trued up to hold any kind of accuracy. More show than go . . .

The horizontal trace comes from a 60-Hz sinewave. Just AC voltage tapped off the power transformer, feeding directly to the horizontal deflection plates. The effective size of the trace is several times the width of the tube's face. Severe overscan is what the textbook name would be for this trick.

Takes advantage of the shape of the center part of the sine wave. Just below and above the zero point it's almost a straight line. And that's the part of the sine wave that cuts across the face of the 3-inch CRT.

No sync, no trigger. Just a severely overscanned 60 Hz sine wave. No need for "horizontal channel" adjustments when it's this simple.
