I don't know anything about BBi, but that's exactly where it's headed. Pretty exciting actually.
 
LDMOS is the future of high power RF. There are already single devices that produce 1200 watts. 50 volts just makes it a bit harder to run in a mobile application but easier for a base.

It is not new, these devices have already been around for a while.
Not only do the produce very good gain, they are damn near bullet proof.
If you search here on the forum there is a vid showing a kw device with the output shorted with a large screwdriver at full output.
Even after that kind of abuse it was fine.

Gotta love the atomic bomb/biohazard into stuff....oh and the "I got Down" lol

The Toshiba 2879 and 2290s are extinct????????? NO THEY AREN'T......but they aren't $21 a piece any more.

No, not quite extinct but getting close ...... I would say somewhere between EW (extinct in the wild) and CR (critically endangered).
