What is WFM? What area does it cover? I was playing with this 706 on 37.385 put it in WFM and was receiving things from various freq's.

There is NFM and WFM. It means Wide FM or Narrow FM.It is a filter circuit.Normal two way FM radios,police,fire,and even the export radios on FM use narrow bandwidth.The standard FM broadcast uses wide bandwidth.NFM uses about +/- 5 KHz while an FM transmitter on say 102.9MHz uses about +/- 75KHz.You must select the receive filter bandwidth that corresponds to the bandwidth of the signal you are trying to receive.Think of it as a window and the signals are scenery.The bigger the window the more you can see (or hear) without moving or changing freq..

In that mode, I couldn't key, just listen.
