I'm going to have to buy another mobile rig. My 706MKIIG got MKIIGanked. Dipshits probably don't even know what it is.

What is a good replacement under 1k?

Looks like my main choices are Yaesu 857 or another 706.

Any advice welcome and appreciated.

I run the Yaesu 857d for my base station and my mobile. This radio has been a gold mine for me with out the big expense of a ts 2000.
The way I have it set up in the truck and base is really slick.
I bought 2 slide mounts and the radio has one mount and the top portion of the two mounts are mounted one in the truck and the other in the shack. This makes it a grab and go system. I bought the best I could find because of the power requirements on the pins. when I wired them up I use 2 pins per power line and I have never had any problems. Just a thought.
