It just struck me this weekend that the number of qualified gunsmiths are about just as rare as qualified CB Radio techs. I came into IVER JOHNSON revolver that still read IVER JOHNSON FIREARMS and CYCLE WORKS; an Old 38 S&W top break. Anyway, I figured at 120 years old and probably not shot since Nixon was in office maybe best have a professional eye ball it and give the OK. I was just curious is I could find a relationship between respect for old CB radios and respect for collecting firearms. Just like old radios the workmanship and skill used to assemble the firearm and get the components to work together can really make you think. And, just like radio manufacturing the quality of firearms have falling victims to plastics and specifications that are "good enough." Gunsmiths can only swap parts and not repair problematic issues. Thank you all.

I've a few, I like the Military or Police types. Surplus or whatever you want to call it.
You are correct about smith's, but that's been a long time problem. I remember going to 2 smith's on my old Springfield pump action. "67" if remember correctly. The slide bar broke and the 2 I took it to welded the the bar. Then I found out that they still made parts for it and ordered a new bar, and had guy I hadn't dealt with as far as smithing, but had bought weapons and accessories from, put it in for free. No more issues. That guy shut down after being robbed at gun point and tied up by some gang bangers. Shame.

  • @ Hambones amps:
Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
  • @ ShadowDelaware:
Hambones the entire amp section would have to be retuned, and the rf transformers re wrapped.
