I have a version 1 President Washington with a 4 pin mic jack. I want to use an old D104 that I found. Does anyone know how the mic plug should be wired?

SH + Blue = 1
White = 2
Red = 3
Black = 4

The four-wire cord won't have a blue wire.

Pretty sure the rest of it is right. Some TUG-8 mike stands will have a tiny slide switch inside, alongside where the battery goes, marked "E/R". Gotta remove the bottom cover to find out.

Should be set to "E".

If your cord has the really thick shield braid, this is clumsy to solder onto the tiny 'solder cup' connection in a 4-pin mike plug. And it's fat enough that insulating it from the other three wires is really clumsy to do. We wrap one end of a short piece of thin wire around the braid just where it emerges from the plastic jacket, solder and then cut the braid short at the solder. The thin bare wire is easier to solder to the mike plug, and won't jostle around and short to the other pins.

I believe the difference is, the blue wire is common. The four wire configuration would use the shield as the common. Sometimes, these mics use a 6 wire cord, and during the installation of a 4 or 5 wire plug, some people cut the extra wires back. That's why I mentioned it. If it truly is a 4 wire mic, then just omit the blue and the rest should be correct.
