YAESU FT-847 MEM / VFO CH rotary switch problems

Has anybody had problems with their YAESU FT-847 MEM / VFO CH rotary switch? Mine is kind of flakey, (and getting worse). It jumps around changing more that one channel at a time. I think this was a common problem? I don't know if a little contact cleaner would help or if it has to be replaced. Also not sure how difficult it is to remove the front panel to gain access.
Your thoughts??
