Yup, They have a long standing webpage dedicated to the entire 101 line beginning to end.
Yaesu FT-101 HF Transceiver Web Page presented by Fox Tango International
A 101 series CAN be a good radio. All depends on who all has owned it and what kind of shape it is in. You ever have to be aware of their age and stuff can break down at any time. Then you'll be looking for somebody who can repair them and find parts....tough decision.
I would buy one ONLY from a seller who is CERTIFYING that it works 100% as should and will gladly take it back if it doesn't...... pay with a credit card or credit card through paypal. I wouldn't send anybody cash.
For AM operation you MUST have the optional AM Filter or you will be screwed. If you get a good rig but it doesn't have the filter....you can get them....but be prepared to shell out $125 bucks for one.
I've had a 101 EX and a 101ZD
Good luck
Converting 11 Meter band to 12 Meters for the Yaesu FT 101 series ..
Although this procedure hardly qualifies as a "mod" (too easy), it is certainly useful for the FT 101 series owner. Conversion to the 12 meter WARC band is as simple as replacing a crystal. The 11 meter xtal is replaced with a 30.52 Mhz 3rd overtone xtal in a HC-25/U holder as specified in the FT 101 series maintenance manual. No other modifications are necessary as the new band is close enough to the original that the current components work. To replace the xtal, remove the top cover and find the xtal board located at right front of the rig.
For 27,000 to 27,500 Mhz use the 33.020khz crystal
27,500 to 28,000 Mhz use a 33,520khz crystal
and So on.
Take it easy on the 260 watt power rating...that is INPUT POWER, not output LOL
Running hard they will do 120/130 watts, depending on what band you are on.
AM mode, 25 to 35 watts.
Another site to look at.

What the hell is input power ?...I don't do AM anymore unless its a am station over seas for rx only.

:laugh:Plate voltage times plate current in short Are you sure you passed a test?
wise guyAre you sure you passed a test?
They are a great radio, but I would recommend that you pass on them. Reason one: The relays are made of unobtainium.
Reason Two: They use sweep tube finals.
Just so you don't have to ask VS, Sweep Tubes are "bad" if you have neighbors. You'll come in on their TV's, stereos, clock radios, toasters, vibrators and clappers.
