Hello all. I have a Yaesu FT-991a that is in need of repair. I know I can send it to California but I was wondering if there is a shop/service center closer to Indiana? The radio is out of warranty. Thanks.

Being out of warranty you free to send it anywhere.

I use this guy in the link below. I used him a couple times and he's done me right. I had a mobile HF amp that I thought I blew, turned out it was an internal fuse I didn't bother to open up and check. He could have easily taken advantage of me but the called me and told me what it was and I was relieved it was only a simple fuse and nothing more.

He is in San Antonio Tx though.

You can check out EHam.net and go to reviews and the top of the review list is the Ham radio repair guys with their contact info. There are some Yaesu repair guys listed too.

I am in Indiana and was talking with some locals on 36 lsb, there were some storms moving into the area. I was keyed up and talking when I noticed I had no output. Switched over to a dummy load still nothing. Checked a 2m repeater and a station got right back to me.
The next day I tested further, 10 and 11m output was maybe 20 watts, the 2m 70cm side worked fine. Tried a master reset with the same problem. That’s pretty much it.
