Now getting sick of the "You have an Adblocker installed" pop up every single time I change a page. Yes I know the site is partially funded by ad views but I use adblockers for a reason - one primary source of attack on computers is malware infested ads.

Telling me this message every time I change page will not make me turn it off and in fact the one thing it will do is guarantee I get so fed up I no longer visit the website.

I would also like to say to the site admins that I find it reprehensible that you're polling my web browser to see what I have installed. You wouldn't like the government doing it so why do you think its acceptable for you to?

Even after disabling adblocker just for this website it still pops up!
It is getting effing annoying. I realize ads pay for this place and all, but c'mon there is letting someone know once or twice, and annoying the shit out of someone every single time they click something!

I am confused. Moleculo asked me about it a couple days ago because he knows I always run Adblocker Plus. I told him I couldn't see any difference and do not see pop-ups.......and I really don't see any despite running Adblocker Plus all the time with Firefox v.32.0.3 and Windows 7.

I don't have the issue of popups but have repaired machines that they were horrible!! A good cleaning and few added programs laters and Waaaahhh Laaaahhh!! better!!
Its a very common issue with sites but not all popups are bad when considering the ones that are filled with malware and that's where the trouble starts I have a few Malware Spyware programs I can suggest if need be. Their not free but reasonalble as they do much much more and run reatime in the background and watch and do their job as expected and do it well. as a matter of fact my favorite one grabs Trojan horse viruses before antirust program do at times. They are well worth the $25.00 - $30.00 as unlike fee versions they contstantly update and run in the background and grab the garbage and block it as it starts. the one I use and setup in customers computers even has malicious website blockiung and warns you when things are being tampered with and trying to be changed. Theres a setting that makes it where no virus or malicioius garbage can shut it down on you which often happens to allow those dirty ba$+ards free run of your hard drive ;)

As very well qualified IT professional, I can assure you that there are no malware attacks on your PC coming from any ads on this site - or any respectable site you visit. If you're going to visit the types of sites that deliver malware in ads, you accept that risk on your own accord.

You do realize that anything that runs in the browser is available to any site to use to determine browsing habits, right? It's been that way since web 1.0 and will always be that way. That's also the same way your adblock add-on works, too....it detects what is running on the website and uses that info to your advantage. Why is it OK for you to disable site functionality, but not OK for the site to use the same techniques to its advantage?

I changed it to be less annoying and only tell you once every few hours if you dismiss the message.

I used to be a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer until I let my qualifications expire a decade ago. Been building and repairing PCs, doing corporate network installs and consultancy since 1990. I have been online since 1983. Compromised ads can and do infect computers. The fact it is a respectable site is not a safe guarantee that an ad is not compromised. In fact the situation is so bad it has coined the term "malvertising".

A recent example was the Zedo web ad platform getting compromised last month. That served ads to websites such as Last.FM.

It would appear that the qualifications you have aren't worth the paper they're written on.

Personal attacks are never allowed on this site. Directing them at the site owner is a fairly bone-headed move. You can now have a time out from here to spend some time visiting the donkey porn sites that are infecting your PC with malware.
