There is a very neat Worldwide Net which meets daily in the afternoons (North America) for the purpose of Checking Propagation on the upper HF Bands to your area. It is a fast-paced Round Table with various Net Controllers taking check-ins and gives every station a chance to call out and see who can hear them. Begins at 2:30 e.s.t. on 17 meters then moves up to 15 then 12 and finally 10M. They spend about 30 minutes on each band and the NC will announce when to move up to the next band. You can Spot Yourself or others will Spot you on their website, which also lists the Fixed Frequencies and Times and other info. NC and all operators are super friendly and it is a nice bit of good fun. The ringleader is Bud, W3FF in Redding, CA and other usual NC's present are Roger, ZL1XR in New Zealand and Jose, XE1DJL in Mexico.

I was checking into this group, starting at 12:30 CDST(?) 17,157.5 kHz
But have not been there much in the last year.
I am building a vertical dipole, made from and old broken CB
ground plane antenna, and a 20 ft. pole. will be fed with ladder line.
Should work great 20, 17, 12, 11, 10 meter bands.

On one late afternoon I was just tuning up on 24,970 kHz
and ZL1XR was there and came back to me. Then another
afternoon I was playing around on 29,000 kHz AM with a
HR-2510 and again, ZL1XR happened to be there,
so had a good contact to New Zealand with 8 watts and
an Antron 99 antenna from way down in southern Louisiana.

So yes, it's a cool group of radio guys you can meet there,
and run into them elsewhere on the bands.
And it is not a stuffy net. Just make contacts.

Slick website. Not much for nets but this looks like it could be enjoyable. I'll give it a shot. Thanks for posting.

I checked in on 17m. Got signal reports from around the country. Definitely a different type of net from the norm. I enjoyed it and plan on doing some more. The website is top notch and everyone was friendly. No Net-Nazis to be heard. Thanks again for posting Mr. Weasel.(y)(y)
