I know very little about it as well. I downloaded a program called digipan this weekend. I have an icom 756 pro that I don't have interfaced to the computer yet. I was able to decode QSO's just by the laptop microphone and radio external speaker.
Is your s45hp still working ok? Mine now has the exact same symptoms as yours did. I replaced the talkback with a UTB-1. I just spliced the wires. Still the same. Just like yours. Low receive on am. Even lower on ssb. Have to put me ear touching the speaker to hear anything at all. No button...
I don't know why in the world I thought you were suspecting the echo board. Probably cause it was 3:30 am and I was brain dead. Either way my talkback just randomly stops working. Will you update me if the utb-1 is a plug and play? I'd like to change mine.
Can someone tell me how to hook up a receive wire to the radio mic plug? Is it possible? I got an RF Limited 2018 and I'd like the talkback to work for when I'm on AM.
I have an chance to buy one of these for $100. It is sold untested, but in good physical condition. It includes the power supply/external speaker. I know it's a really old rig, but it seems to get very good reviews still today. Does anyone know much about this radio? Or have any suggestions for...
I have a skipper 300 and was wondering if the Galaxy Saturn was ok for it? AM should be ok. I can turn it down to 1 or 2 watt carrier. SSB is what I wanna make sure of. 20-25 watts is what it does. I was thinking that much pep was ok, just wanna make sure.
I'm gonna use the free galaxy for awhile. I'm thinking about(procrastinating) getting my technician license. So in the meantime I'll study and keep researching HF rigs.
For now all of this was in vain. My uncle bought an icom and is giving me his Galaxy Saturn(non turbo). I am gonna save that $600-$700 for awhile and use the Saturn. I know they are in different leagues but free is free. Thanks for all the advice.
I heard that. I'm not opposed to lower output export and amp. Only thing is the price difference I'm seeing between the 2995 and the lower output models in ranger or galaxy is $100 or less. To me it's worth the extra $100. If I could find a good icom 746 pro in the $500-$700 range i would go...
That sounds like a plan m42. Is there another base out these days that would be a better radio? I mostly do some AM skip shooting and SSB talking to locals up to 50-60 miles away.
