Problems after Mod. indepth

It is on our Caprock repeater system in south eastern NM USA one freq. has a tone the other does not (both RX 147.18 and Tx 147.78 the tone is 88.5 on the second one) and it was working great before i made the mod. I have since noticed that the Step (50 Step) will not move off of 10 kHz. And HM is now B0253. VOX I think is stuck in Digital mode it will only scroll A#### thru D#### and will not let me put in any actually freq. I have been thru the whole maneul and check all of the setting and am at a LOSS.

OK here is the deal when I did the Master Reset as instructed it made the radio only allow me to select (A#### thru C####) (not D####) and if i try to load a Freq like 147.18 then (manually thru radio then it will not let me at all) (thru the computer software as soon it gets loaded to the Radio then the radio converts it to one of those others like Bo253 and I have not found any way to fix it. I have even tried to redo the jumper and reset again with no luck. Please help i am taking alot of heat for making the mod to begin with from my wife. ha ha Thanks Chad :headbang

FT2900E

The Ft2900e European model has the top 2 joints soldered and the bottom one is unsoldered so do i unsolder the two top ones G0/KF4OQM

I have now opened up the FT2900E eu version by desoldering the middle solder joint of the three and resetting

need some help i did the mod on my ft-2900 it works but it only lets me tx on 151.000to 155.995 i need it to tx on the 160.000 and up and 150.995 and down how can i fix this

I was having some trouble with this mod. It ended up just being the reset.
I needed to push power, dw/rev, an/low, mw/dmr all at the time time.
the instructions at the beginning of this thread said to just push power, an/low, mw/dmr.

Hope this helps somebody else.

I did not have any problems at all with auto repeater shift after removing the solder and resetting. It functions as it did before the mod. Hope this helps those with questions.

FT-2900 mod

Followed picture. on my board it was upside down on soldier spot. removed the spot and reset as instructed. repeater mode was fine. didn't have to reset. I would recommend backing up radio first. once you reset. you will have to open a blank area on programming software and let it read radio after reset. then redownload freq. works great and tx opened now to all of 2m.

I did the mod on my radio and it still only goes to 148 did i not get all the solder off? Also it does not reset when you push the three bottons at startup.thanks for any help. kj6pke

2) When I tune the radio to the frequency of a local repeater, then key the mic, the radio shuts off and re-starts. Is that telling me that my antenna is inadequate, or what does it mean?

Do you use proper power supply for your 2900? If you use weak power supply, and try to use your 2900 on HI power, your 2900 will restart after pressing PTT button. Remember, your 2900 need minimum 15A on HI power !

Just made this Mod to a 2014 FT-2900-R per the instructions and it worked great.

I just did this mod on a 2015 model and it works great. Interesting to note that there was a small black chip on the spot. I heated it with the soldering iron and it came right off.

Just got this radio and the mod was very easy with the photos and information provided. The problem I have now is that I can't clone/program the radio after the mod. I was able to download radio image with CHIRP (today's daily snapshot) before the mod, but can't do it after. I even clipped and recrimped the USB cable to rule out a cable problem. I can program the radio manually, but it would be nice to use CHIRP, despite the (currently) partial support for the FT-2900. If anyone has any experience or suggestions on this, I'd appreciate this. If this is a result of the mod, it would be good to take this into account before doing it.
