I spotted this Ford Escort behind a Dennys this morning. It had a crumpled right rear quarter, faded red paint and duct taped on bumpers. But it had no less than 30 antennas on it.

Perhaps this is nothing new for some but dang it sure received a lot of looks from passerby's in the parking lot.

^Agreed. My car has one low-key dual-band antenna.. and that's all it'll ever have. If I go with some sort of mobile HF capability it will be in the form of an antenna I can deploy when parked, like a mast-mounted dipole or something.

is that even legal?

@ mackmobile funny link :)

Is what legal? Parking somewhere, throwing up an antenna and doing some HF work? Sure! You just go out and find some public land like a park or something, preferably up as high as you can get, you park your car, set up your antenna and radio and get crackin'..
