My old friend President Jackson.

Ok hold the presses gentelman!!

Hey Robb, while you are in there remove the final and check the weight of it. See if it feels heavy for it's size. The reason I am asking is there is a possibility (now that you mentioned the bias problem) that this final is one of those knock off ones that eveyone has seen. If this IS the case and it is A knock off final then I forsee BIG issues for those that layed out money for this things. If it feels very light then I would consider it a knock off. However from the markings on it it does look like an origonal.

And a class action lawsuit seens to be in order!

I will take and post any shots you want of the original I have. I am intrigued by the MRF477. Here is a thread from across the pond, plenty of board pics.

Would you mind posting some shots of that mrf-477 final for comparisn? It might help if someone that has one of these rigs to remove the final can compare it to an origonal.

Something does not smell right here.

Not possible that it is a knock-off; or that I am going to take it out.

The knock-off transistors simply wouldn't be capable of the output power I am seeing.

Ok, it was just something that was not suggested yet. So if everything is in working order then there has to be a reason why you can't set the bias correctly especially after replacing those parts in the output section.

Here is another thought, maybe the adjustmant pot has issues due to corrosion? have you checked that possibility? Are all the voltages correct? perhaps check out the regulator and supporting circuit?

I've had mine on all day. Made a few DX contacts today. Spent a couple hours this evening with a few guys on SSB.

Holding up real well, not major noticeable drift issues. Everybody likes. Thing is very quiet... +++++
