change the pll and it will...
This is incorrect. It can be converted just have to find where they blocked it on the front board. The chip is the same as the ones that can be modded. Lc72322n chip behind the face. The titan 2 has the exact main board & face board. It can be done I just don’t want to damage my Htx10. I’ve had one in its package forever because I’d like it to cover all those bands. I think mine is one of the first ones, date on it is 09-99.
IT DOES NOT WORK. THE HTX-10 HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GO OUT OF BAND WITH A SIMPLE MOD.THE CHIP HAS DIFFERENT FIRMWARE PROGRAMMED INTO IT. THE HTX-100 HOWEVER WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. APPARENTLY SOME PEOPLE HAVE NEVER LEARNED THE MEANING OF THE WORD "NO" AND STILL INSIST IT IS POSSIBLE DESPITE THE FACT THAT NOT ONE HAS EVER SUCCESSFULLY BEEN DONE. I AM USING ALL CAPS AND LARGE BOLD PRINT BECAUSE APPARENTLY SOME FOLKS HAVE POOR EYESIGHT AS THIS HAS BEEN STATED MANY TIMES AND YET THEY STILL IGNORE IT.you sure about that? aparantly you solder a couple pads and hold a button while turning on and its wide open
Every word in this post is absolutely accurate. As Pez has said, I don't understand why this still gets around. It is only possible by a CPU swap. Period. And the downside of changing the CPU (if you can get one), is that the programming of the VFO steps in the other variants, that includes the 11m band, is crap, which makes the radio useless as a 10m radio, unlike the HTX-10, which has a correctly programmed VFO step. This is incorrect.
Regardless of the marking on the chip, the FIRMWARE IS DIFFERENT ON A HTX-10. It does NOT include the firmware required for anything except 28.000 to 29.699.
Anyone who tells you otherwise has no idea what they are talking about and does not understand how these radios work, OR the significant differences between all of these rigs that "look" the same on the outside.
Unless the PLL chip is changed for one with a different and complete firmware (from a Dragon, Magnum, Titan, Albrecht, etc), or a crystal is swapped out to move the master reference, then the HTX-10 is not able to be modified. And even then, it's literally not worth the trouble. It's not a small job, for a less than perfect result.
It amazes me how long this silly rumor has been circulation. Decades now, and not one single HTX-10 has appeared outside of the 10m band in all that time (with some simple "resistor mod", or similar). And that is for good reason.

It was never possible to out of band the HTX-10, out of the box. End of story. It can be converted just have to find where they blocked it on the front board. ok well thats unfortunate but not as bad as if I bought the rig first. thanksNot possible.
This has been covered to death! The HR2510 killed the idea of Radio Shack ever putting out anyting for Ham use that could be easily converted. Can a Radio Shack HTX 10 be converted to 11 meters? I have read it is the same as a Magnum 257, except The HTX 10 does not have variable power.
Thanks
