May be an oddity, but, I'll take it. For all the complaints I see from time to time on this tech or that tech, I'd like to give credit where credit is due. I was having a small problem with a Cobra 29 NWST WX custom radio that I've had for a couple of years. A simple background hum that was barely noticeable, but, irritating. So, I sent an email to Doug @ Custom Radios this morning explaining my problem and heard back within 3 hours as to the solution. Simple problem / simple solution, but, what I consider damn good customer service (especially for a Sunday)!

Word for word: "Well the noise could be coming from the night watch lighting. (Most likely is)
That uses a inverter to make AC to run the back lights, all the Galaxy's make a low high pitched noise as well. It hard to be out of the radio. If its from the lights no one can hear it on the air just you if it quiet. Turn down the back light with it quiet and see if the pitch changes and if it does then its in the back lighting."

I simply turned down the brightness and the tone faded away as the brightness was reduced. I found a level where the brightness is sufficient and "no tone".

Knowing how some of those inverted driven back lights work that sounds perfectly understandable.
