Is there a schmatic for this amp, xforce 60012hd. I have it here for repair and ther are about 6 burnt resistors
in the circuit that are burnt so bad I can't get a reading. I can take an educated guess as to what they are. but
not sure of the value. 3 are 2watt 100ohms. I think. then there are 3 small ones by the finals that are burnt.
maybe 10ohms 1/4 watt. haven't checked the finals yet. Can anyone help? Ron

If the bigger ones are the ones on the combiners, those are 2 watt, 100 ohm. The three small ones by the finals are 1/4 watt, 10 ohm. You'll have to replace at least 4 of the final transistors, as they have gone short... would be best to replace all 6 of them. Hope this helps. :)

~Cheers~

Thanks, I thought they were 100 ohms and 10 ohms for the smaller ones. I'm going to replace all the finals also. the ones in there are toshiba but i'm putting dei finals,or the cheapest I can find. Maybe look up mrf's or ecg's. forget about nte's,out off site.

That is the problem. People over driving the crap out of them!! They aren't junk amps. At least the older ones weren't. I have a TNT 600hd and it has Toshiba 2879's in it. Red dots, not that makes much of a difference depending on who you ask.
I have used my amp with the following radios, magnum 257hp (80w pep on AM), optima MK3, cobra 29, uniden pc122xl, uniden 980, and a few other radios as well, and never had an issue with the amp. It still looks new actually. Don't really use it anymore as 100w and a good antenna seem to do the job just fine for me. But I think the most I saw out of if was around 750w using the magnum 257hp to drive it. And this was on SSB as well as AM. Maybe X-force did take a dive for a while, IDK, but the amp I have is clean inside and works just fine. I don't use the magnum 257hp anymore with it. Most I'll push it with is the optima MK3. I get 400w no problem with 40-50 watts of drive on SSB and the amp stays cool. At any rate. Sorry to hear about the bad experience you had, but don't bash the company. Next you'll be saying BBI is the best LOL!!!

X force is junk

I believe you are partially incorrect Sir. I've found the heavy duty old school X Force stuff is very forgiving and reliable.

You could be dead-on about the newer stuff. In that case, folks should maybe hold off and look for the older generation of used amps to purchase.

The DE-DIEs are not direct drop-in replacements and do not have the same specs as the Toshibas. They are a lesser component IMO.

Pony up the $$$ and get it done right. Just a friendly AM mode tip so you don't let the magic smoke out again, watch your carrier level so that you have the proper 1:4 power ratio (carrier=1/4 of max peak) A Toshiba 2879 is rated for 100 watts. So if you had a 6 pill that wold be 600 watts peak X .25 = 150 watts max carrier. Less, if you want it to last for years.

They do not work just as good unless all you are looking at is a watt meter. The DEI pills can work fine if the builder or repair man does his part and the customer has realistic expectations from them. The quality control on the DEI wasn't what we were used to with the Toshibas so they have to be matched. If you pop a Toshiba you could get away with just ordering and replacing 1 pill. Trying that with a DEI amp is a crap shoot...unless you have a bucket full of DEI transistors and a transistor tester. It might make power but when you compare a finely tuned amplifier with matched transistors to the average CB amp that was thrown together and abused the difference is amazing.

I think I agree. this is the second one I got in for repair. First was a x80 with 2 2290 finals gone, then this one right after with all 2879 finals gone. For a high drive it didn't take much to blow all these parts. Ron

So you are repairing equipment that you have to troubleshoot over the internet? If you are charging money to repair amplifiers you should be able to point out what exactly makes these amps junk and correct it. These competition style amplifiers are as basic as it gets.

What do you not like about the BBI amps? The amps, not the person?

I was just making a joke. I have nothing against BBI. He has a bit of an ego, but hey if his amps work then have at it. I've just read too many horror stories about his products. Maybe he is a changed man since the last I read about him.
