Just no good ones being made anymore. The old Antenna Specialist, PAR, Rat Shack.....all there is is crappy discones.

Yes, I can make my own, but still, used to be some good stuff on the market.

W9 , is right to easy to download and app nowadays , I have 3 scanner antennas , I'm not impressed w/ that high $ discone I purchased years back . My favorite is the one I have that almost looks like a smaller version of a 1/4 wave 11m ground plane , it's always received well . I'm not sure of the manufacture . 73 and God Bless , Leo

I bought one of these. I have not installed it yet. A friend told me how good his works at only 30 feet AGL. he bought his for the six meter application. I also have the six meter beam I have not installed I have the rotator and the mast, but I need help to get it in the air.

It's possible that is the exact scanner antenna I have been using for 8 or 9 years. Mounted on corner of 2nd story roof, works great, never had a problem. Mine might even be a little more flimsy but has held up well. When I move I was considering upgrading but I will probably just keep it until I have a problem. I have the paid version apps for Broadcastify and Scanner Radio Pro but lots of local frequencies will never be hosted so the lowly discone still gets used.

The antenna I listed I bought because it also will transmit on quite a few bands, and Specific Transmit Freq. 26,27,46,49,72,144,220,440,900,1290MHz.
That's 5 more bands than my long wire.

I once tested mine on 2 meters, a local net maybe 8 miles away, so I don't doubt it will work.

That's the discone that I have , I think I paid about $80 years back in might have been the best one RS had @ the time . It's up about 30' , it works but in all honesty I never noticed a difference between it and the one I have that looks like the smaller version of 1/4 wave GP except it has 2 center pole one just a little shorter than the other .jmo
