I owned 2.1 picked up every noise.the other 1 was quiet.
The quiet 1 actually maade 10 watts .everybody gave reports the modulation was clear.unless they changed, the mic is hard wired.
Not bad to get a huge amount of channels.i traded my pair for a uniden 980 i like lots better

I'm concerned about not having a switchable ANL/NB or front adjustable mic gain
It probably wouldn't be much fo hunting weak DX, but the auto squelch seems to work fairly well. The main selling point is the small size. If you had a battery pack, you could stick this in your pocket and put an antenna on your hat.

Well that IS a great deal money wise - only ... if someone is looking for an extra & cheap CB. But you're not going to get 300 channels and FM out of the Uniden ;-)
I get what your saying but FM is basically useless on 11meters and do you really need a small am/FM rig with extra frequency space? Now if it was a ssb unit then I would agree

meh - This is all been a theoretical discussion anyway but I appreciate your input. FM is or is not useful only if there is a group of locals who like using that mode. - Does anyone need 300 channels? That's like asking does anyone really need a roger beep or echo. People like what they like and it's all a matter of personal preference. Thanks

To add a 45 watt PEP amplifier, frequency display, digital volt meter, programmable memory channels, scan feature and 5 roger beeps, consider the Stryker SR-94HPC. I'd like to say it has a noise blanker too but unfortunately the manufacturer has been completely dishonest regarding the noise blanker switch. The radio has no noise blanker feature whatsoever and they have falsely labeled an Automatic Noise Limiter as a noise blanker. I don't really miss the Noise Blanker although I find it unacceptable for them to lie a bout having one and they have earned continued harassment until the advertising matches the product!

I've seen these - they are TINY little <SNOTS>

The connector is actually like the older Radio Shack 5-pin DIN style - that is a waterproof / dustproof
(their packaging not my words) there is a dimple on it that is part of the "lock tab" that the DIN style used - you squeezed the dimple to push the tang down and away from the lock flange and pull out.

It - the plug/socket - looks a lot like an 5/6-PIN like RCI or even a Uniden 678 - only it's a DIN-style from yesteryears.

A WORD OF CAUTION - from their Ebay site...
If you want it work in US,you can change the radio to 26.965-27.405 mode(OP1 and OP2 both grounded),please send email to the seller, he could send you manual instruction how to change it.

Use at your own risk

I agree 100% that FM & Extra Channels are both useless.I purchased a Uniden 980SSB a few weeks ago & love it.I am shocked at how well it works & the transmit audio reports that it gets.Very quiet & sensitive receiver as well. It's a keeper.

I agree FM is worthless unless you’re a ham and want to play around with a little 10 meter simplex, but that’s a rare choice at best. Being able to go below channel 1 on AM is a totally different story. When the skip is in you will be able to listen in on many groups using those lower frequencies to avoid all the hash and trash that's on regular channels. If you so dare, those stations down below are also easy to work barefoot. You will have little to no competition with other stations overriding your signal like you have on the regular channels.
