New Ranger RCI-63FFC2

Possibly the same as the Galaxy 98VHP? Move a wire on the solder side of the PCB? Or could it be remove the spider of resistors from the solder side like a Connex/General?

Like I said there are several variants - like the RCI 6900 series
http://cbworldinformer.com/rci_6900f_tb_frequency_and_clarifier_mods.htm

The Galaxy 98VHP...
http://www.cbtricks.com/radios/galaxy/dx98vhp/index.htm

And a lot of other whatnots...
So there are at least two variants...

Third deals with Connex 4400 with the similar board...
http://www.cbtricks.com/radios/connex/cx_4400_cx4400hp/freq_mod.htm

The other with a dongle...

I don't want to exactly say - here ya' go kid, Have at it - chop it up and away it goes...

Especially when 3 out of the 4 boards in each radio listed above uses that same EPT /RCI board but different means to obtain the unlock...

I wasn’t bucking ya, hold back them bullets brotha!

I’ve done one before and I think it had a resistor but you’re absolutely correct, several possible ways. I agree, post up a few pics of both of the board and let’s look at it.

No, not attacking just wonder why the questions?

The Bells CB site shows at least 2 radio of the RCI 63FF series, one a B4 other a C2/4 and the warning of "Radio now ships with China 2879 transistors - Toshiba 2879's are gone"

So since the radio is discontinued - it may already be unlocked and they just need to figure out the Frequency counter to match the channel display. - as in; which band?

So with all the info above - I just hope it's something simple, like - turn the Frequency "pool" to match the range of channels you wish to use. Someone else did all the hard stuff...

I just got a new CX-4600 Turbo in, HG2290’s in it. I was rather pleased to see them in there over anything else except Toshibas. I was expecting to see DEI but they are HG’s.

It’s a pretty radio, the 63FFC2. Curious now as to the conversion myself, it has been awhile since I had one in here.

Is that connex from a new run? Last run of 4300hp and 4600 turbos I had were the blacked out transistors so I'd assumed that they were dei's and the fact that they produced less than the Toshibas of 10 years ago. I'm just curious now... I had heard the Texas star amps were going to hg's but I have yet to see one without the stock dei junk.

Alright, maybe we're finally going to get the better hg's in all the upcoming stuff from those guys. No not Toshibas but a good step above dei. I'd hoped that would eventually happen. Now Maybe the Texas stars will start showing up with hg's too

Well only one way to find out, guess I should order a few TS and see what’s inside them? You know, research and all, for scientific purposes because inquiring minds want to know...

Well according to a reliable source, they are still shipping with DEI so I might pass for awhile.

In other news, they are supposed to release a line of amps with...wait for it...............Toshiba’s.

Yeah, you read that right. And the price will be higher of course. That’s all I know right now, we’ll most of what I know right now, I got to hold back a little.
