This guy decided to make an 'educational' video on ferrite, and the whole video consists of him saying, " have a problem? wrap some ferrite around it!"
"wife cheating on you with the neighbor?"
"wrap his cord with some ferrite!"
"Tax man coming to take your house?"
"wrap the house in ferrite!"
he is obviously an appliance operator that needs to read about RF grounding in addition to his extensive studies into the wrapping of cords with ferrite.
But hey if you learned something from the video then it was worth it.

Ferrite is good for solving problems but too often people use it to treat the symptoms.

My homebuilt StarBuster was having prollems.....no I didn't wrap a ferrite, used multiple grounds, not just my 2" pipe shoved in the ground 6 feet, couple ground rods at tower. Attached with #6 wire. Made sure there were multiple grounds throughout the elect system also. Soo.....there are 5 ground rods and 3 elect grounding locations that have been addressed. Better than spending 2 fiddy on toroids. And a whole lot more better.
I have three ground rods at the base of my tower but they are for lightning. I hope I never need them and they were a waste of money.
How can lightening protection/ grounding be a waste of money? I have used the tech correct copper before, but they are expensive. There is some that are galv clad and cheaper. Recently I just used several 1/2" to 3/4" dia. pipe about 5 foot long. You can use a variety of things to attach the wire with. I drilled and tapped 3/8" hole and attached with wire lug connector. I'm at sea level so buying the expensive stuff ain't worth it. Most of my grounding supplies were scrap. I have used rebar when traveling with my camper when I find the power pedestal is not grounded. Camper was shocking me with 22 volts. sure saved my power converter.

Hey don't get your knickers in a knot, I was simply pointing out that ferrites have their uses. You all jumped on this guy and ridiculed him, I doubt you would do that to his face. Maybe I will ridicule you about your rf grounding practices, how would you like that? I get the feeling that you don't really understand or know why you're placing these grounds, you're just regurgitating something you heard or read from some old ham. A lot of people with radio will put someone down and then drop some technical reference without elaborating on the details to make themselves look good. It's called an inferiority complex.

Snap them ferrites onto the diesel fuel return line. Magnets on the feed line.

Ferrites are useful in some cases however it is always best to cure the problem rather than treat it. The guy in the video gives the impression ferrites are the be-all and end-all when in fact they should be used as a last resort. That is why the members were poking fun at him. Better grounding and shielding is the way to go for starts.I didn't say it was a waste of money. I said I hope it was. What I mean by that is I hope lightning never strikes the tower.
When I first got into CB and got my hands on my first amp I had rfi hell in my mobile. It was an old pickup truck with an antenna mounted on a headache rack.
I went down to the hardware store and bought some heavy duty stranded wire and ran myself an "rf ground" down to the frame. It solved my problem, swr was good, the mic didn't burn my lips anymore and life was good. It took a few years before I figured out what I actually did. That radial would have probably worked better if I tied it off to the tailgate.
