I just got the news my web provider is putting up a 70 foot tower on my house free of charge. I will own the tower, and I can mount what I want. How cool is this. Looking for advice on what might work as a side mount on a metal tower. They just need to be able to get to there little radio antenna which gets pole mounted above the tower. Thoughts on what would work below or beside on metal tower and pipe. I currently use full wave loops, I could mount that out on a pvc cross arm??

Have them install a Hazer for you then you don't even need to climb the tower.
Will meet with the contractor next week, not sure what they use. I cannot imagine climbing 75 feet of tv tower, and I am an old construction electrician, but tv tower is not something I would climb

That's hard to believe. I have never heard of a tv or web service go to that extreme for one customer.

Ya me either, were all on radio antennas here, there 100 foot tower is about a mile from me, but it is old and being decomed. They had asked, would I be willing to pay to have a tower; currently on a 10 foot pole on a second story roof. I said no, I would not buy a tower to have internet. They came back a month later, with they would put up the tower. they can't reach 10 of there customers off there other towers. They have 100 towers. Remember this is Canada we pay high internet fees, my fees will pay for the tower in about a year. So that is the deal, and the tower is mine, I can mount what I like , as long as they can maintain the radio cube at the top. Good deal for me , should gain me 20 plus new feet of height.

Maybe give the guy a few bucks under the table to put something like an Antron 99 or Gain Master up top. Maybe on a 10 foot pole to get it above the companies radio cube? I wish someone would put a tower in my yard. Haha
this is what I was wondering over would be best with a stick like the 99, my loop off the side would be lower, and the metal might interfere , thanks for the input. You guys always have the info and ideas.

When I lived in Ontario they put up about 80' before the mast to get service for us. All light duty tubular stuff which I had to support above the roof line of my barn. Shortly after a stand off with pulley went up for dipoles etc.

This is what my first thought was, if they could give me a standoff and pulley, I could hoist as required, I do not like heights, have done lots, but never liked it. So this would work, be flexible , and maintainable for me. I am nearing 60, so not quite as gung hoe as I once was

I would see if they could side-mount their stuff and leave space at the top for your antenna. BTW who is your internet provider? Just because you live in Canada does not mean you pay crazy internet prices. I have a bundle from Eastlink with 150 MBs download speed and unlimited downloads. I can't break down what the internet costs because of the package deal for landline, four cellular phones with free Canada wide long distance and 10Gb data, HD digital TV and high speed internet all for about $200/month.

I have to ask if this is for cb or ham use. Unless the rules have changed in the last 10 years the 70 ft tower is not legal. I don't have anything against it but you said you ran legally in a recent post.

In Ontario Ca most of the rural internet providers use a point to point wireless system which was (when I was there) government subsidized. My point to point distance was about 20km. My barn had high speed wifi as they used a router as a signal boaster because the distance was thst far to the house. No problems with tower height as long as the jnternet company installed.
