Want to get more out of this radio have never worked on any radios before. How would I go about it and how complicated is this. I wand to get a little more power and modulation

Never seen one before. No idea what to suggest, except to recommend getting a linear if you want more power. You need to double your power for anyone to see the first tiny before-and-after difference. Most amplifiers multiply the radio's power by a factor of ten or more.

No way the radio is built with the "reserve" capacity to deliver double the power without damage. No way.

And a smaller increase just can't pay for itself.

Most popular mods have more to do with either making the modulation louder or altering the tone response of the transmit audio. Any added power may look significant when the wattmeter increases by a quarter or a third. But that part of the before-and-after won't make the meter at the receiving end rise by more than the width of the pointer. But increasing the modulation will make a difference they can hear at the other end.

Good chance that this model uses a main circuit board that's the same as another model and/or brand that HAS the tech info available. Look for the letters "EPT" printed on the white screen-print of the pc board's component side. Sometimes it's printed on the solder side. The numerals following the "EPT" prefix will reveal if the guts of this radio are familiar.

Or not.

It gets out OK just need more volume want it to sound clean

If you talk AM mostly just turn up the modulation pot slightly - or add a power microphone. I did a review on one a while back, it is basically a Galaxy 959 inside. Mods for those are everywhere.

I use ssb a lot would turning up the modulation pot mess with that.
I'm no cb tech lol. I also use AM I get great distances from the radio about 7-15 on Am and 20+ on side band. It's a great radio don't want to mess anything up.
Do you think it would be if it to peak the power or would adding a small amp be better

I had the AM only version (CX366) at one time. Darn nice radio.
My suggestion is this: Leave the inside alone, turn the power down to 1.5 watts, add a RM KL203 amp and a good power mic and you will have an excellent setup. (y)

Yes imagine that the ssb in decent
As all ranger built radios there will be a little drift until it's warm then it will perform well. So many quick to bash the ranger built radios but I along with others here on this forum can say I've worked many a station on ssb with a Galaxy and even a once available connex cx-33ssb base radio. Does it drift a little? Yes, but once warm it will perform and perform well in my own testimony.

Use it!!
