Would seem wiser to learn DXing from the cumulative knowledge of the entire membership here, rather than any one individual considered to be "The Best". QTH's vary, it's not really a one-size-fits-all hobby.
Most important thing is listening for dx and just giving it a shot. Most important thing I would say put the best antenna up you can let it do the work.
How about contacting Mainland China? North Korea? You know the forbidden places.

I don't know too much about DX and am new to Amateur radio, so when I'm asked to define 'best, or which values determine best, it's on you to determine that. My question was focused on asking more questions and not answering questions. One thing I noticed is the competitive juices are flowing whether openly or disguised, and I'm grateful for that.
Being the best or equally interested just defined who to be aware of when they post. Once again no awards will be issued, this is merely for info.
As a new guy surrounded by the blue hairs I'll need to assemble and dis-assemble an antenna each day, until I figure out a more permanent solution.
Please don't let this subject devolve into some little girl bullcrap. Thank you in advance.

I checked & I have worked 286 Entities so I was a bit low on my guess yesterday without seeing my paperwork in the shack.I am in Baker County or Macclenny just West of Jacksonville.I don't chase DX at all on 11 meters.When I'm on 11 meters with the Bone Stock & Unmodified DAK X it's just for a contact or two with some locals & I turn it back Off.I did all of that when I was a kid but once I upgraded to the General Class on Amateur Radio I found it far easier & I can find someone somewhere most any time of the day or night & it's why I have 9 antennas up so I can cover most any band.I have all of the HF & 6 meter bands covered & they are the most Important to me.The Mosley Yagi on 10-20 meters does most of the work but the ICOM 7600 & ICOM PW-1 amplifier are a Big Help for sure.I got the SIX-SHOOTER handle when I was just 5 years old & I still have one of my original QSL Cards that a friend drew for me so a lot of people know me by my handle & they don't even know my name.I define DX as any contact Outside of North America on HF & 6 meters so Canada & Mexico are Not included.God Bless & Good DX.

For most of my ham career, I didn't care to do any logging. I started logging digital and DX contacts a few years ago and have since made 6 contacts to China and 13 to Asiatic Russia. Nothing into North Korea - are they even allowed to own 2 way radio equipment there?

I worked her on a pass from Texas thru Nebraska till passing just short of Chicago in 1996...What a BLAST!

First Amateur radio on NASA SHUTTLE FLIGHT
In 1983 Dr. Garriott flew as a mission specialist aboard Columbia during the 10-day space shuttle mission STS-9, which was notable for several reasons: It was the first six-person flight; it included the first international shuttle astronaut, opening the door to today's multinational outer space cooperation; and Dr. Garriott “operated the world's first amateur radio station from space, W5LFL.
I heard him call Houston control W5RRR, when he finished, I began calling. I was one of only a few op's that worked him on that First Pass over the states. What a thrill. What was even more fun was about 10 minutes after I worked him. My phone at home lit-up for the next hour plus of all the op's I knew that heard me work him.
I was using stacked 15 element beams at 60 ft boom height/ 1055' ASL/ 400 watts (approx. 5KW+ ERP)
NOTE: about 3 days before the flight, I climbed the tower and tilted the stacks about 15-20 degs above the horizon. Not sure whether that did help or not, but I worked them!

I will be at Hamcation on Saturday.I have not missed one since 1993 & I like it better than I did the one trip I made to Dayton Hamvention in 2013.It's much closer for me & there was just so much pure Garbage at Dayton.
