I would like to start a cross reference list of what batteries will fit which HT's.
I think there is alot of deliberate confusion surrounding the issue as well as alot of horsecrap as nowhere can I find such a list, more like vendors not displaying the battery part number but just the application, for a price and then the same battery for another application, for much more $$$. Feel free to help and contribute.

Full credit to Towerdog for having found so many products matching this family's battery pinout / configuration. Prior to finding this post, I began searching and cross referencing batteries / adapters for a model Albrecht AE2990 AFS. After compiling a pretty nice list (separated into 7.4V and 12V varieties), I found this post matching some the models I'd found. I wanted to provide my models to add to Towerdog's list. Hopefully, our combined info can help others to find their own model on the list, and then find a related model's battery/adapters available in their own area or online, over time.

I've not researched the internal voltage specs for all models listed.
My list below was compiled based on info found, where battery/accessory sellers claimed the model to be compatible, or associated it with known 7.4V, or 12V batteries. Some models can be found under both voltage categories.

As for the Albrecht AE2990AFS, that model can officially accept 10.8~13.5V (specs show 9 x 1.2V NiMH, or 9 x 1.5V Alkaline cells). But per the schematic, this model appears to use a BA05(T?) regulator, and should be safe in accepting either 7.4V or 12V batteries / accessories (the regulator's min/max voltage is 6V ~ 25V, just for reference). This model also supports the Midland 18-821 Mobile Adapter accessory, which connects to a car's 12V power, and also has an SO-239 for connection to an external antenna.

Hmmm... Occasionally.
The advantage (paired with a mobile adapter, and magnetic mount external antenna) is the ability to setup a rig on the fly in a vehicle having very limited space, potentially while not in one's own vehicle.

The range may be something to write home about (that is, you may NEED to write home, as the range may be so limited, that only by writing will they likely get the message back home!).

But it does support SSB, and works in a pinch for local communications. :D

And people actually use these walkie talkies?
I talked to one of the members here one time when the DX was running.
I was in the mobile here in CA and he was in Chicago.
Bill was on a Cherokee hand held and he was 5x5 into my RX out here.
Ya, they work.
I got a friend that uses a Midland hand held hooked to a fire stick in his Baja.
Works great.

I currently own a Cherokee AH-50 6 meter transciever I would like to find a schematic diagram for that handheld transciever and any other info you might have . Batteries and Bulbs can rebuild the original battery packs if that helps anybody My question is is there an internal memory save battery inside the radio that I can replace where it is and what it is because my radio does not retain 500kc 1 meg offsets and is quite difficult to finnally get those set correctly there must be an internal memory save part somewhere in the circuit or on the schematic which i am trying to locate these were built in Chicago Illinoise and somebody somewhere has a schematic maybe there is a way to install a memory save tiny battery somehow

Never have seen a diagram of any Cherokee handheld radio. They were made in the far east and imported by a company called "Wireless Marketing". Pretty sure THEY were located in Chicago, but the radio should have a "made in" ID somewhere on the back or inside, along with the serial number.

Those people went bust a long time ago, so no way to reach out to them.

Has anyone found a battery that works with the Radio Shack 21-1679? It's similar to the others, but the ears are a bit wider and taller. I've tried a bunch of different batteries that I have for my Magnum 1012, ADI HT-204, etc.
