Not sure what to think of these new high priced offerings from ranger. It's only about 15 years late to the party and would have made a good splash back then.

Here's an X9 face with a 979 chassis as you can see by the fcc id badge on the rear showing dx-979. What do ya'll think of this one? PRICED AT THREE HUNS!!

I wonder if the board is through hole or surface mount? If it's based on the 979 then I assume through hole. I wonder if the production version says 979 on the back?
If you look at the picture in the link the rear plate says dx-979 so it would have to be the same pcb. Right?

Hahaha, ranger! That company is ridiculous and lost, they need to just throw in the towel, fold the business and be done with the whole radio thing.Total rip off price and im willing to bet it wont sell at all, and it will go away like all their radios do. As usual they discontinue excellent top selling radios (2950dx, 2985, 2995, 2980wx etc) only to make another silly radio like this one. Once again, nice try ranger but nope, you fail. AGAIN!

  • @ Hambones amps:
Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
  • @ ShadowDelaware:
Hambones the entire amp section would have to be retuned, and the rf transformers re wrapped.
