What is a Ranger 811H?Hi Everyone. New member. I'am Looking for advice on connecting a Icom 7300 to a Ranger 811H Amplifier. I woul be keen to hear from anyone with any advice or has there 2 connected together.
Never heard of it. Photo? Do you have an operating manual?Ranger 811H 800w HF Linear Amp
yes. I have the basic manual but it is of no help at all.Never heard of it. Photo? Do you have an operating manual?
Hi. I have tried that and pressed the ptt but the amp did not start. The amp has been used on my kenwood radio and the is working fine.
I think it is keyed on the PTT line. The manual saysIs the amp keyed by RF or the PTT keyline?
What is it you don't understand about it? If you ground the relay jack on the amp, it should energize the amp relay. To do this with the 7300, you use pin 3 of the 13 pin DIN ACC jack, or the SEND jack.the manual says
The maximum signal level of the [SEND] jack is 16 V/0.5 A DC. Use an external unit if your non-Icom linear amplifier requires
a control voltage and/or current greater than specified.
• The ALC input level must be in the range 0 to –4 V. The transceiver does not accept a positive voltage. Non-matched ALC
and RF power settings could overheat or damage the linear amplifier.
• When using a linear amplifier such as the IC-PW1 or IC-PW1EURO, set the RF POWER in the Multi-function menu to keep
the ALC meter in the red zone.
LSee page 3-10 for details on the RF POWER

A patch cord with a RCA (phono) plug male on each end plugs into the radio's
"Send" jack, the amplifier's relay jack at the other end. Likewise for the ALC.
Hi. I did get 2 RCA cables from a radio shop one for the ptt/send and one for the ALC. i have plugged both cables in and switched the amp from standby to operate and pressed the ptt but the amp does not start up. I did connect the amp back up to my old kenwood 990 and the amp is working fine.
