11 meter is very quiet?

For what it's worth here is a middle of the road beam I'm considering if I ever get out of this stinking valley. It comes recommended by Jesse James of Dallas. It was his first beam and served him well, now he has a even bigger one and talks world wide. So he says anyway ! LOL

That's a great beam antenna, for sure. But I'd have to move somewhere with a few acres available to turn that big boy around.
I was considering the V Quad, etc, because of its smaller size. I don't have the real estate for anything larger.
Thanks for the info! I hope one day you get one of these.

I've been thinking about this and researching for the past few weeks. Originally I was looking at the Maco V Quad, but we have some serious wind here and it's not just seasonal. We could get high winds (60 to 80 mph) any time of year. I'm not sure the V Quad would survive too long in my part of the world.
I mentioned that weakness the last time we talked. I'm glad you opted out on the V-Quad. I would have gone with A 2 element Quad. Strong , good gain and directivity. Easy to home brew. Maybe a project down the road.

Dx started out lousy today, but improved late afternoon. Lots of contacts out of Texas and Oklahoma. So not a complete loss. as always, try again manana.

Yeah I noticed that while I was getting cleaned up for the day and wouldn't you know it, it is June 19th a holiday so my neighbor is off today. I did take the Expedition for a run but noticed the SWR running high so I have to check that out. Anyway hope everyone else has luck with the DX.

I've been having some good evening QSOs with Georgia and the Carolinas on the East and Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas on the West. Great people to talk with. The kind that you want to invite over to have a beer. Real get to know each other conversations. . . not just ," how's the weather?"

My DX 2547 has been sounding superb lately and this morning teamed up with my West Mountain Radio filter but just came in the house for some late breakfast and the air wave are silent again. You know its bad when you hearing nothing but static on 6 AM but your not missing much on that channel !

Short skip today.
I took off at noon today and had my radio on by 2:00. I heard Oklahoma and Louisiana booming in! Had a qso with several of these stations. 4100 in LA was exceptionally loud and the mobile station in OK sounded like my neighbor.

But.. all is back to quiet now. That was a 15 minute show mother nature put on. :ROFLMAO:
