Nice opening to the Northeast this morning. NJ, NY, PA, DE, CT.

During the last few openings I have heard North American/US stations calling CQ in the 50.100-50.125 DX window. Is it no longer respected?? Personally, I never call there.

7 3 Gary, heard you working Jersey on the backside of the Yagi.

Pretty good day on 6m today. Started early this morning and still going as I write this @ 20:55 hours EDST, Texas booming in 5/9 right now. Wish this happened a bit more often but I'll take whatever Ms. Nature gives us.

I'm hope by the first of December I will have my Buddyhex up to 30 feet. I have an appointment with Cardio on the 23rd of this month. I hope they lift some of my restrictions so I can lift stuff over 5 pounds. I feel ok since three weeks ago from the quad bypass operation. doing a lot of walking and breathing exercise's.

Hope you can but don't push it, that's serious stuff. No antenna worth hurting yourself.

My 3el is @ 30' and can't hear any of the DX this evening.

LFA INFO from designer...Talk to Justin and couple others about the new project.

All the Best

PS: My 5 L LFA in on a 14' boom (y) (y)...the 7 L will likely be built using a 25-30' Boom...wide spaced!

Thanks Gary!

I've had G0KSC's website bookmarked for a couple weeks. This the 5el. 14ft boom model he has posted there that I loaded into EZNEC:

I'm liking everything about it. Good gain, good F/B, weight just a bit over 8lbs. and 50ohm feed, no transformer, just a 1:1 CM choke at the feedpoint.

The Hexbeam is coming down and this will be going on the rotator.

Can't wait to see and hear your 7el !

I purchased a 6 element OWA(17' boom) 6m beam at XENIA/Dayton this year...it was to be a Dxexpedition antenna...somehow in shipping box got wet and was not shippable to site...I bought the parts...Elements/Boom and all the SSteel hardware(still in package) for $75 :giggle: ...With my 5 "L" LFA in storage in my barn presently...I should be able to "merge" the two antennas into one monster 7 "L" wide space!!!!
All the Best

Ugh.... Ive said it earlier this year and probably will... I NEED to get a 6m dipole up lol.. I am still not familiar with or where to listen on 6m or where one can talk simplex etc... I know it goes from 50mhz to 54mhz I believe, but not sure where to go.

It's going to depend on what mode you are looking to operate with on 6m. I don't do FT-anything or FM on 6m, so the antennas I have built (a wire Moxon and a 3el Yagi) were designed for the SSB window of 50.100 to 50.200 or thereabouts.

I have learned, with a bunch of great help from BJ/Radionut, that 6m SSB is mainly weak signal work and an antenna with some additional gain over a dipole is almost required. During the rare and occasional Es openings lower gain beam antennas can work quite well, but I'm looking for more.

I want to be better able to join in "Meteor Scatter Mornings" from about 06:30 to 08:00 on 50.145 SSB, which I really enjoy. Great group of operators to talk with.

If you have local SSB traffic near you you may not need as much antenna. I hope you get on 6m, SSB needs operators since a huge portion have defected to digital only.
