Anytone at-5555 PLUS

I always put performance ahead of looks........ but to each their own I guess.

I want my radio to be the best it can be, regardless of how it "looks". To me, this is a hobby where technology and communication are key, not the form factor of the radio.
Yup, me as well. Function over form. Not just the performance, tho, but the ease of function as well. It's why I love the Stryker 955. Most of the functions one would need to access during use is on a knob or a switch. No having to punch thru menus to find the item. I have a brand new Anytone Q6 pro that I used for two hours and then packed it back up in the box and it sits there. Too many menus for me.

I didn't like the "Telephone Plug" Mic setup on the Plus 2. And I didn't want an adapter to change Mic's.
The q5 plus n has a standard plug, it's the N2 that has an rj45 and it's really no big deal aside from using an adapter. In the end the stock mic really works best with it anyway.

That is an RJ-45 which is used for ethernet, it is NOT a telephone plug. That is the standard now for nearly all VHF and ham mobile gear too.

I usually use the stock mic on my 5555N2. I do sometimes like to run my Turner CS-1 desk mic on it though, so I made an adapter using an ethernet cable end and a female 5 pin cobra jack I had in a parts bin and just spliced them together. Took about ten minutes seeing as only three of the wires in the RJ-45 plug on the Anytone are used. Nothing wrong with adapters and they are easy to make.
