Pll02A crystal info needed.

Thank you. I'm interested in what they say. Brandon is working on a synthesizer to replace hard-to-find xtals, I'm patiently waiting for a prototype to play with as I have a few rigs to try them on.
I did see that and there is a guy over seas doing that programing crystal oscillators.
They are a bit noisy. The guy showed one in a cobra 29ltd/gtl am radio and seemed to work. The osc. are out there and need I think an aduino board to program for frequency needed.

It will need an analog input for the clarifier, but as I understand it, he's tackling that feature.

The "Progrock" board I'm using comes from Turkiye. Yeah, that's how Erdogan wants it spelled nowadays. Has no feature to make it slide, but so far it does what we need it to do. Doesn't need a clarifier function for this radio:

https://www.worldwidedx.com/threads/browning-mark-4-old-dog-ponders-new-trick.271096/

Uses the Si5351 as the signal source. So far we haven't observed noise issues from it.

The price of a one-off custom crystal makes a board that emulates three of them look cheap in comparison.

Hey Techno1:
Following this with interest. Can you share the information you provided the Xtal provider in PRC that got you in spec crystals please. As some have said, sending a working one to a Xtal manufacturer has advantages however not always possible, so keen to know what specs were provided to them that gave you your excellent resulting Xtals.

Do the Xtal manufacturer have a website? did you have a minimum order. Keen to know if its a route to keeping this as original as possible.

Thanks in advance.
Minimum to order was 600 xtals so 1200 xtals for the 2 frequencies at 1 time about 5 years ago I had ordered 12,000 crystals.
Here are the specs for the pll02a crystals, Other radios might be a bit different.....Screenshot_1.jpg

Many Thanks Techno1 and apologies for making you repeat yourself, I hadn't noticed the thread had moved on since I last refreshed. You already posted the info. That's why I deleted my post but you must have got it before it went. Apologies again.

I saw that, but I'm not sure if they can pull 12+Khz. If you think so, I will try.
12kHz is a stretch. It may work, but the capacitance required will be very small. You will probably need a 1-10pF trimmer and it may become a theramin if the capacitance required is in the lower half of that.

What about opening the can and replacing the bad leg?

I have soldered the leg back on without opening the can, it will have to do for now.

If you fellas are struggling for crystals, can you use the later Cybernet export ones? 20.105Mhz for FCC band for instance. These crystals are readily available here in the UK as a set: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2842096928...pid=5336136228&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1 and copy the switching circuit from the export manual (switched with 9v) then you can also have a course (TX/RX) and fine tune (RX) options. If you can make your own PCB's it's easy, just copy the PTOS011AOX or PTOS012AOX board. I did a lot of that back in the 80's.

For extra channels there's microchipz.net (again UK based) and they sell pic chip type boards to get 120+ channels from the 02A with one crystal, take out the PLL and put it in the board then solder the board into where PLL was.

Just my thoughts.

The 02a chassis used here in the states are based on the 10.0525 loop mixing xtal so the xtals you mentioned would be way to high in frequency to use here.
Microchipz is a good choice but by the time you buy + shipping + tariff can get expensive. The poster looking for a 10.0525 if he could get say 10 people to buy maybe 5 xtals each might drive the price down from $40 each to a lower price from Bomar xtals.

the 02A and the 10.0525 xtal can be programmed to work from 25.685-28.045
of course the radio will never broadband and cover all those channels.
The best bands D-E-F to get would be 26.515- 28.045 here in the states plenty of extra channels.
