Can we talk about the Cherokee cbs500 and 1k swing mod?

Had a paper copy back in the day. Haven't seen that model in decades. Was popular when Copper was selling it in the 90s. I'll see if I can turn it up. Our paper library has suffered severe neglect since putting day-to-day schematics on computers. I have no recollection of how "J36" applies to it.

I just think we could make this a performer with a bit of work hope to see what we can come up with soon!
I worked on a Radio Shack TRC-495 a few months ago,
in another internet personality of mine. Same radio
as that Cherokee CBS500. I could not find a schematic,
So just did my own thing. Made a new power supply
regulator circuit. I was able to overmodulate it with
the stock microphone. make it sound "nasty" CBer style!

So make sure the power supply is adjusted to around 13 volts.
I bet the CBer "golden screwdriver tech" will turn the voltage up
to 18 volts or so, and have that grin on his face that he is
getting something he is not supposed to get, like "doing" the
Hooters waitress and his wife does not know.
Maybe getting an extra watt of RF output.
The variable resistor for this power supply repair job
was turned up all the way. Not sure what the output
voltage would be, since it was blown up. But turning this
voltage to high will really affect the bias voltages
through-out the radio.
At some point, things will get worse.
I have a Cobra 142 here, and it has an adjustment
for the 12 volt power supply also. I bet back in the
day, "they" were turning it up to 16 volts or more.
