FCC requiring that EBAY sellers submit FCC ID on any radios going up for sale????????

I followed the link to the FCC requirements and looked at the FAQ. One notable question missing is... what if the radio was marketed before FCC IDs were attached but it IS FCC Type Accepted? The guy held up an old Cobra 23 channel and it fits that category.

It's the FCC in the US flexing its muscles against the marketing, shipment, sale, offering for sale of non FCC id devices allegedly under (Under [47 U.S.C. § 302a] and 47 CFR Part 2, Market Restrictions) . So the FCC are going after the platforms (eBay etc) because that's where they can make the biggest impact and cause the most trouble and the Federal law is strongest for them. *** I'm no US law expert, far from it, thats good old searching and AI, getting me to that Market Restriction part *** no offence meant or intended to the US citizens here.

Its a similar set of regulations in the UK, pretty much. OFCOM go for the market place, platforms as they have law to back them in this area. like the US they haven't bothered to date, now they are. the main difference around this is the level of fine in the US is greater than the UK and the US will vehemently pursue individuals to a greater degree than the UK.

So all the platforms would and could be affected by this ultimately.

So rather than waste time building up reputation on platforms skinning you a fee then leaving you in the dust wondering where all the effort went. Start buying and selling on private access forums like we used to, like this.

Ok so you wont get the family members of relative selling unrequired "radio" goods on a platform like eBay when they can't scenario, that's been easy for them to date. So more will probably go to landfill if its difficult to process via a platform. However, those that know will seek out private forums, message boards.

Well, that's my hope anyway if its getting banned from platforms.

If you’re thing is the restoration of old radios, for me, it’s either garage sales or Goodwill. My goal is a finished product that performs like new or better. Cosmetics aren’t my main concern, but I always remove any SSN number found. Reliving the past and respecting those who have passed. Ebay is only a part source for me nowadays after all else fails.

hmmm figures , well I'm quite sure that there are thousands of radios in the use already and flea bay isn't the only game in town . personally I absolutely HATE eBay after 14 years of buying stuff with absolutely 0 negative feedback they sent me an email saying my account was suspended . When I called to question, why some phantom department that deals with this that can never be reached, made the decision so I was told probably run by the same liberal sh*t stain fa**ots that run fleabay nothing but a bunch of wastes of skin and the perfect reason to legalize abortion after birth

Ebay may enforce this new reg on radio listings. But I wouldn't worry about the FCC coming down on you. They rarely enforce any radio related rules and regs these days. Equipment and behavior on most bands violates multiple FCC rules, but they claim they don't have the man power or resources to do anything. Unless they get flooded with complaints, they look the other way. To me the FCC is no more than an old toothless circus lion that occasionally wakes up from a nap to make a little noise.

Well, there are 30,000 ex-IRS agents after the DOGE ordeal. FCC can pick them up, subpoena Ebay records, get the shipping addresses, and sit down your street and wait, especially during the winter season. Then come spring hit the yard sales and swap meets. Maybe even sell some things online, ship them, then meet them there a few days later to take them back. So, would this be considered a Felony?

Has nothing to do with DOGE. FCC couldn't care less how many watts or how you conduct yourself on the air and it's been that way for a couple decades. They demand I pass a test and give them $35 to operate on amateur bands. But I can run 3k watts and violate every rule and reg on those bands and they ignore it. Again, it's been that way long before DOGE.

Wasn't saying it had anything to do with DOGE. I was saying there are 30,000 people available for hire that already know how to hunt people down, like they did for the IRS. As far as the $35 for a license, that reminds me of having to pay a $5 membership to pee in a club restroom while walking Beale St. in Memphis TN.

Google says the $35 started April 2022, and there are about 740,000 users. That's 25,900,000.

A 4-watt CB radio with a ground plane antenna mounted 20 feet high typically achieves a local ground-wave range of 5 to 15 miles, depending on terrain, trees, and buildings. Wow, for about $400 worth of equipment, you can talk to the person on that tractor plowing the field.

an old Cobra 23 channel
When 40 channels came around, there was a sunset on selling a new 23-channel radio. After that it was not legal to do. We unloaded our stock in time. A later date was set on selling a used 23-channel radio. Seems to me that there was also a sunset on using one, but it's been too long. Slept since then. The FCC can intimidate a corporation like fleabay with the threat of fines. But it's a wholesale agency now. Not a lot of "retail" enforcement applied to individuals, only to organizations. This just makes fleabay to the FCC's job for them. For free.
