Today, I dropped off my two ICOM radios, the 7300 and the 746, to recalibrate the S meter and to fine-tune the receive and power meters. I asked the technician if he could check the ALC on the 7300. He responded that nobody uses ALC anymore. Did I miss something over the last five years, or is...
Time to experiment again using a Myantenna 40-10 56.1 and a 1.1 current choke. The only bands of interest are 40, 20, and 15 meters. The antenna will be used in an inverted V with the apex 30 ft above ground. I'm trying to find out what size coax jumper to use as the counterpoise between the...

I found a video where, if you go into tech mode by using a shunt in the back of the radio, then press menu & function, then power; if you increase the RF power from 100 to 120, it increases the average power. Instead of seeing 50 watts average, now you will see 60 to 75 on average and 130 on...
It does NOT increase the power output. That stays the same, only the average power is increased. Here is the article =https://sp3rnz.blogspot.com/2017/01/icom-ic-7300-ssb-power-mod.html
Has anyone here performed the capacitor mod using a tantalum capacitor to increase the average power on SSB? The radio typically only operates at 30 to 40 watts. The mod is supposed to increase it. This modification was done by SP3RNZ. I'm trying to hear the pros and cons.
