Is it possible to work AO51 or any of the birds with a Diamond SRH77CA on a handheld?. I know the arrow antennas are preferred but just curious if anyone has actually talk on amsat with a vertical antenna on a handheld. Thanks

So a horizontal antenna will not receive anything from a vertical antenna and vise versa? I was hopeing the worst situation would be a lost of dbs when transmitting from a vertical to a horizontal antenna but I am starting to think that this is not the case.

Can I use my Diamond X50 for 2 meter SSB comms?. I have heard that you need to use a horizontal antenna for SSB on VHF but wondering if this is necessary. Thanks

You will never get a good SWR using a wilson antenna on the trunk. I went through this a year ago and had to put the antenna on the roof of my Mazda protege. I think it looks ugly having a big antenna on the roof of a small car but what can you do. The good thing is that it works antenna works...

I may be able to pick up a used Icom R70 for $200 and was wondering if this is a good radio for this price. I have not heard anything bad about them but was wondering if anyone has owned one and if they were pleased with its performance. Thanks

Would anyone know if the Diamond X50 VHF/UHF base antenna needs to grounded in order to perform properly?. The reason I am asking is I have this antenna in the corner of the attic and run a Icom 2200H into it. This setup appears to work fine and I always get good reports but I was told that this...
