looking to trade or sell an elkin 8 tube and possibly 2 elkin 4 tube amps. looking to get out of some older stuff and into some newer stuff as far as amps go. will consider trades for different base/mobile low or high drive good made transistor type amps. also am looking for a really good first...
just got one of these from fleabay. no transmit but it does have receive. anyone worked on one of these and no some of the common problems? so far it looks like there should be 8volts? going to the main RF board and there isn't. it has been soldered here and there but the relay kicks in on...
I have a few MB3756 voltage regulators for older Cobra 148gtl and Uniden Grants etc. If anyone is interested they will be $6.50 plus shipping. These are new and I will bench test every one I ship. I started a new thread because I put the wrong price on previous.:blushing: paypal only please...
they are new, but i did make a circuit to bench test them and I will bench test every single one before I ship it. I do not use solder, but i do plug them into a socket. thanks for asking!

no. it wasn't doing anything on transmit, I replaced c18 (i think) and brought it back to life but not all the way. i got that hint from a thread here i think. I just can't seem to find the missing link to bring it back completely. thanks
VR10 appears fine but have not had any luck switching out components around it. I have a scope but have no idea where or how to start troubleshooting this type of problem. Any ideas how to narrow it down? I might bring it to you if you didn't mind just to see how you would approach the problem...
I have a Taiwan 148 gtl that I have replaced several caps in. I now have about 3/4 of a watt carrier with about 5 watts swing. I have looked at all kinds of voltages and seem to be stumped at whats causing the low carrier. On SSB it will do about 13 watts max (all watts PEP) with the limiter...
the final tests ok out of circuit and so does the driver, the coil that feeds the driver doesn't have any output voltage, but does have input, should it? the driver and final have collector voltages but nothing else. any ideas on this part?
Just got a 29xlr and it powers up but no receive or transmit. have chased my tail on it for several hours now, replaced several caps and attempted to trace voltages to no avail. Anyone know what the test point voltages should be in this rig or any ideas of common problems, Thanks
i am adjusting the carrier with internal pot. no matter how much I turn it to increase carrier it will only do 3/4 of a watt (or back it off down to zero.) Guess I need to get the carrier problem fixed first then worry about it not modulating. All it will modulate is a medium pitched squeal...
I have a early 80 model 148gtl, on AM with mic gain turned all the way down it will only dead key 3/4 of a watt but when the mic gain is turned up it squeals to a constant 2 watts no matter how high the carrier is set. PA function works but it squeals with just the mic gain cracked open. was...
