No it's more to do with the value of the capacitor that effects the length of the frequency offset. The resistor is more for bleed off after you unkey. That way you don't have to wait for the cap to discharge before you can key again and actually get your effect
Yea they are a great board I'm glad I have the info I needed. But I suppose now it would've been really easy to jjst copy it from the other 3 radios here with the same board and mosfets lol I have to run another 30 lbs in the lab today but tonight I very much look forward to getting this thing...
I'm gonna see what I cna do with the mosfets I got all kinds and I know drail can do some impressive stuff with them. Great output and still clean.
OK so this is the same as a connex 3400 or a general lee. It must be a little older because the board looks a little different but now that I'm...
I think I'm gonna still go for the mosfets but I completely understand your point. If I didn't have 20 new mosfets I wouldn't swap. I know that they aren't a direct replacement but I know they can Def be converted.
I live in Maine its cold like 3/4 of the year. Sometimes we ride motorbikes on Xmas other years we have ice storms that take out the grid it sucks. Love living here though
Hello. I searched around a good bit before posting I hope this is in the right place. Anyways I have a 99v with blown finals. The driver is still good it has the 2312s for the dual finals. The 2166 driver is still good. I could simply order some hg finals but I have some NEW IRF520S on hand and...
I've read this many times but your knowledge of RF is leagues ahead of mine. I would like to get to the bottom of it I suposoed with enough poking around I'll get it working right. Glad people like you are here to help your the man Andy
The test points will be just fine. Or you can also use a current meter on the main power of the radio and obtain your resting current with he radio on and not keyed. That's your baseline. Then just add you MA per final one at a time. Test points are easier tho
I sure can my friend. I've read so many of your long writeups on this forum I already knew exactly who to ask lol. Actually come to think of it I'll have to see if I have the original picture I took because it's already smoked a set of finals which I now suspect had something to do with the lack...
Hey I have a question man, same board but a general lee. This is the same setup....the 15c with dual 520s. Is there a reason why those diodes from source to gate aren't present in these radios that you know of ?
dang straight its invaluable. i read this entire thread and i never knew i could learn so much from one thread. truly excellent detailed information from handy andy the guy is brilliant with this stuff!
if you go to hgsemi.com you can get a whole list of all their transistors with part numbers and order them by emailing north@hgsemi.com they have some that aren't available at ica which is the only reason I mention it because other than availability the price is maybe 5 bucks cheaper and they...
