DX is starting to roll into South Texas from the northeast 330 pm. I made contacts up to New York and Massachusetts.
Saw this car at the fundraiser car show. It had a wilson magnetic mount antenna with a cobra radio.
I didn't get on the radio much yesterday. But I did hear someone in St.Thomas in the Virgin Islands. I didn't try. Other than that it was quite. I did have a quick contact to Maine this morning. I checked the radio before I left to go to a car show fundraiser and there was a lot of noise. I...
Unit 68 was who I talked with last night on 38lsb from here around San Antonio. I was hoping to hear 828! It is not very often I hear from that part of Texas. The shortest in state skip talk I have made was to Dallas.
1100 pm and still conditions down here around San Antonio. Same areas you were getting. Made a lot of contacts on AM. Even made a contact on sideband to Amarillo.Time to hit the hay.
I just heard a couple of guys on 38 talking about him passing away. It's very sad to hear. It has been a while since I heard him. But I have been on AM a little more lately though.
RIP JJ
Finally getting my little station together. I bought a Sirio Monsoon 5/8 ground plane antenna. I put it together Saturday and only have it temporarily mounted at only a couple of feet off the ground. I hope to get it up to 20-25 feet.
The SWR's are 1.1 on channel on and below and about 1.4 on...
The DX was on fire yesterday evening in south Texas. I called a few times looking for WDX members , but didn't find any.
I made quite a few contacts on AM and SSB. I had a pipeline to Virginia and the Carolinas.
How do you like the 2016 so far? I plan on getting mine soon. Looking at getting the antenna at about 20 feet to the feed point. I would have got one already, but money is tight trying to get all the materials for my cabin. I have been using an inverted v at 22 feet with good results.
11 meters has been quite in the mornings here in Texas but comes alive in the afternoon. Hopefully i can make some contacts with WDX members later.
At least I have been able to listen to 15 and 20 meters. The dip in 11 meter activity has me really thinking about getting my ham license. I had...
I heard 399 telling someone about the 82 degrees and puffy clouds down in Columbia, then 010 in Hawaii had the show.
I made contacts on AM to south Florida and to southern California from south Texas this evening.
I finally got my Cobra 139 XLR out of storage and hooked it up Saturday. I made some barefoot contacts to the northeast US with it just using an inverted v dipole up about 22 feet.
I added a small heater to it and was able to talk to a station in Australia later that night. Hopefully soon I...
