Jimmy if you can't get a hold of the guy in Texas you might try HiQ for the bas insulator .
Won't work with the camper shell but I made a mount to mount my HiQ antenna to the inside of the bed works great![IMG]

For a 2 element antenna while on the road or camping you might look into a hexbeam. For a single band it can just be flat. I built a 6m hexbeam...
you can slit the ends with a hacksaw and just use small hose clamps to tighten them in place.
Just push them inside if you can don't cut them.
