Anderson Power Poles... Where you been all my life?

I have never had an issue with them, I crimp with genuine crimper and anything that pulls over 5 amps gets soldered as well.

    SB 220 Plate Transformer

I recently picked up a very nice well built but completely stock SB 220. Before ordering the upgrades I disconnected the high voltage leads from the plate transformer and turned the amp on to make sure the transformer wasn't junk. I got approximately 980 volts on both leads. Fast forward to...

    Ham Radio Question

I got into the Amateur radio side of the hobby at the bottom of the solar cycle and was always able to make a contact on 80, 60, 40, or 20 meters depending on the time of day. If you have the space 160 is pretty decent at night during the bottom of the cycle. As far as cost, I was on the air...

Car Stereo Capacitors used for Amplifiers ?

Even with the 240 amp alternator, when I was keyed up on SSB the voltage would vary from 12.6 to 16.0 at the amp. Multiple voltage regulators later, I came to the conclusion that the regulators couldn't keep up and installed the super cap, now it floats at 14.7 volts and holds a steady 14.4...

Car Stereo Capacitors used for Amplifiers ?

My current setup: AT6666, 8 pill, 240 amp custom alternator, AGM battery under the hood, 2/0 cables, 500farad cap bank at the amp, everything well grounded. The cap bank made a big difference in average voltage at amp, PEP watts came up by 200 and average went from around 30% to over 45%. For...

I think we all knew this was coming eventually... Edit: Holy smokes did people pay way to much for a CB radio!

    ICOM 7300 WITH A CARL BUILT 800HD.

A local operator runs this combo, sounds really good. I built a power supply for him from 3 HP server supplies and have it set at 14.7 volts. He makes 1200 watts out according to his meters. If you want to know more, just ask.

What is the best Braid to use for removal of solder.

I have far better luck with a solder sucker. The parts you are desoldering stay much cooler when using a solder sucker instead of braid.

Winter Project or Scrap? Bandit 2000A Amp

Some good news!! I had 30 minutes today to play with this. The filaments light! The meter works! It makes 2200 volts DC with only 16 volts AC ripple! The relay functions and the idle plate current come up! Both fans spin! The anode cap on one of the tubes fell off, unless that can be...

Winter Project or Scrap? Bandit 2000A Amp

Based on the replies, this is worth getting to run again if the transformer is still good. I had 5 minutes to look at it earlier tonight and the fuse is blown, so that's not a good start. When I have time I'll disconnect the transformer from the rectifier and caps and see if it will make A/C...

Winter Project or Scrap? Bandit 2000A Amp

What the title says, rebuild this dinosaur Hunter Bandit 2000A or scrap it? It has 4 572 tubes of unknown condition, but I'm assuming they are air bottles. It also doesn't have the expected input band switch and tuning network. It was given to me for free. What says the hive?

    Anytone At-6666 Pro

Mine has better ears than my 7300 on the same antenna.

    Anytone At-6666 Pro

The 6666PRO has a much more substantial heatsink. Original 6666 with the fan is the top radio, the PRO is the bottom, notice the deeper heatsink and the increased fin count.
