    ParaDynamic Meter Parts?

PDC 6000 I remember those. If the number you have is from the Valor Enterprises in Piqua Ohio they sold the company to Astatic back in the late '90s. I used to work as an RF Tech for PDC for a few years before they sold to Astatic. Could be the movement is damaged. Some of them can be repaired...

Dayton Hamvention 2010 is in one week!

Just made it back from Hamvention. I only purchased a 2-meter radio. I haven't been in years, the flea market wasn't as large as I remember back in the '90s. There was a few oler radios, but I must have missed out on the good deals Saturday morning. I didn't make it to the Palstar booth to visit...

    Para Dynamics Astatic 600 meter

Did you check the lens cover for static? On the Bulbs... The older PDC 600 units, we installed grain of wheat bulbs, don't recall the size but I do have a few laying around I could measure I suppose. I would also concur that switching to 12V LED's will work much better and last longer.

    AVG versus PEP?

Back to my rants... I guess it depends on which accredidation standard is being utilized, the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 is a strict standard of NIST conformity, you need the actual calibration results for each scale under audit along with the maximum uncertanties calculated for each device in the...

    AVG versus PEP?

UL is an interesting entity, I deal with them quite often. UL has requested our electrical test lab to be ISO/IEC 17025:2005 "accredited" (ISO does not like the term "certified") next year. Since we perform UL testing in-house, all equipment used to measure AC V/A/W, etc., will need to have...

    AVG versus PEP?

I concur most RF meters are calibrated at FS or close to it as possible at least for analog (not sure about digital). Yes, for the moment these are rated at FS deflection. The problem however is the linearity of the scale for some of the economical meter movements. I would prefer to see the...

    AVG versus PEP?

Here is what you do... Get your RF Meter mfg on the horn. Ask to speak with the metrology dept or calibration lab. Ask them if the meter is true RMS/AVG/PEP Next, ask for NIST and calibration paperwork with real measured RF Power values for your meter. When they ask, ship your meter, pay the...

    Here's another $10,000 fine to a CBer!

I imagine they knew this guy on a first name basis. I could think of other ways to spend that kind of money, guess he just felt like throwing away his money. I be the odds are that he already has another amp on order. He even logged all his contacts, good show.

Question for hams AND CB guys

I disagree. Bigger doesn't necessarily imply greater quality for the components or construction. However, I understand what you are saying. S/he shouldn't run that much power unless it is neccesary to continue the QSO under the band conditions. No, its just not very green. :glare:

    Making biofuel from waste plastic.

Interesting! Yeah we run/test up to 700HP motors and current draws near 2000Amps 460V and 600V respectively (IHP). We also have a 1-Megawatt Generator for 50Hz testing which could be enough to power several European shavers. Anyone one else here work for a "Green" conscious...

    Making biofuel from waste plastic.

Good to hear! Back to my company, they began a recycling program last year which includes copper, steel, and cardboard. Its a small step towards carbon offsets. On a side note, last year they began to remove and recycle old electrical wiring and conduit from the shop area (due to offshore...
