    Walkie Talkie Antenna improvement

Exactly,, I kept seeing "Tiger Tail" for sale and wanted one for 11 meter. However, as you all know, 11 meter is a long antenna. This is why I used speaker wire (two wires) and attached the two sides at one end, so that it wasnt 9 feet long. I did transmit with the "tiger tail" coiled. It did...

Very artistic of you to take a picture of your air conditioner,, covered in snow.

    Walkie Talkie Antenna improvement

One more item.... The ground wire is 4.5 feet (slightly long but livable) I tried folding it into one foot sections and transmitted again,,, Not as good but still better than no wire. I should have noticed the meter reading but, the drinking has started so, dont expect PHD analysis from me now.

    ATU-100 question

Update on the ATU-100. I realize this isnt the same quality you all might invest in for your radios but, the ATU-100 has turned out to be really good,,, assuming you are patient enough to work with it. - It seems to be improving each time I tune it. I didnt need to keep tuning but, I did and...

    Walkie Talkie Antenna improvement

I hope you all dont mind my frequent short posts. Today I decided to try something I had seen on line regarding improvements to Walkie Talkie antennas (remember, I am only on 11 meter for now). I have a 4 watt Uniden Walkie Talkie, range sucks yes. I have bought improved antennas but, range...

    Anyone getting snow?

We have had snow since November here. Warm day out today,, its -5 C (aprox 23 F ). It has been - 20 C (-4 F) here a few times already this year. I dont experience the cold this year,, crazy covid lock downs means there isnt any place to go anyway. I am very south when compared to much of the...

    D104 on Realistic trc432

Nice.. I appreciate the help from everyone. BTW, I have not soldered anything in about 40 years. I can confirm: - my eyes are really not as good now - my hands shake a lot more now - its still fun,, just a lot slower (like that joke about seniors having sex)

    D104 on Realistic trc432

Interesting (L-pad suggestion). I did solder in the white wire resister but, did not run one side to ground. Any idea what side of the 4.7 k ohm resister, that the 470 ohm resister goes ? Radio side or plug side ? Thanks in advance.

    D104 on Realistic trc432

Update: - Still doesnt work with Navaho radio. My D104 mic came looking great except for the cable. So, I replaced the cable and plug while adding the resister to the voice line. Seems even better on Uniden but, still squealing on Navaho. Any other ideas ?

    ATU-100 question

ALL great input. I am adding another comment for the 11 meter only people... I just auto tuned to channel 40 (higher than chan 1,, yes i need to shorten antenna) and, the entire 1-40 channel was better. Seems today, if you tune to the worst, they all get better (yep, i have had a drink or two)...

    ATU-100 question

On another board, someone commented that you only need to tune at channel 20. Not sure if that is 100% correct but, I am just recording one persons comment for the records.
