So I had taken my exam on July 21st and passed with only 4 wrong and by July 30th it was on the FCC website. I am pretty happy with that, I am now KE8BTI and using a Baofeng UV5R, GT3 MarkII and a UV-82.
Hey Binrat, did you get your Kenwood 281A yet and if so what are your thoughts?

So would this be a good rig to start with being I am a beginner or should I go with a 2m only rig and if the 2m only what would be a good one? I am sorta overwhelmed with all the different rigs out there, my MAX budget now is $300.
I been wanting to buy one but was wondering if I could use this with my ht (Baofeng uv-5r) for the cross band repeater and full duplex.
Hey W5LZ how about a picture of the custom sunshade you made for it?
So after talking to a friend, I have decide to go with either the Yeasu 8800R or the Kenwood TM-V71A. Reading reviews on EHAM that they are practically the same radio with just about the same functions as in full duplex and cross band repeater. I just have to decide which one.
