    tube amp trouble

I have an old tube amp that I've been working on. It's a SOS Electronics Cadet 150B. I had added a fan to try to keep the tubes cool, and when I fired it up, I have no output. The tubes are glowing, and are getting pretty orange and hot. When I turn the tune and load knobs, nothing is happening...

    amp problems

Hi, guys, I've been working on an old Cadet 150B amp, and tried firing it up today. I get nothing out of it. I put a 4" fan in it to try to keep the tubes cool. I plugged it in, and nothing. The relay is clicking, and the tubes are glowing orange, but this is my first tube amp that I have...

    Changing finals 2950dx.

Transistors I'm just wondering why you would want to change them out? Are they blown? While I don't have the 2950DX model, just the regular 2950, I wouldn't think that there would be much difference in actually doing it. Do you have a manual for the radio? If so, you can find out where they are...

    Home made amp trouble

Tube amp trouble Hi, guys, I got the amp back together, hooked it up, keyed the mic, and nothing. The relay is not keying. I twisted the brown wires together, but all that did was poof the fuse. It was a 3 Amp fuse. Now I have to decide whether to take the amp to the CB shop or, totally...

HELP!! low rf output on am and ssb ept3600-14b

Driver and final transsistors I would think that you have either a bad driver and/or final. Since the problem is on SSB, that tells me that it is one or both. It may be that the final has failed, and since both the driver and the final are fed the same signal, the driver may be the only part...

    Home made amp trouble

New developments I finally got the amp out of it's case after a lot of diagrams and unsoldering. I found out that a wire was off the relay. I attached it back to where I THOUGHT it should be. I went to the local electronics shop today and got 2 new electrolytic caps and a fuse holder. I'll...

Hi, guys, Does anyone out there have any info on a Mada 150B amp? I'm looking for a schematic. Thanks, Lew

    Home made amp trouble

Ratings I'm not sure what you mean by ratings, but if it's watts that you're wondering about, I was told that this amp and one that is similar to it will put out about 180 watts with 2 tubes. Actually, I was told that they can each put out about 100 watts. I don't know if it's that's true but...

    Home made amp trouble

amp I found a schematic for a Browning 180 amp at CB Tricks(?) that closely resembles my amp. The sweep tubes are of a different type, but it uses the same number keying tube. I'll be using that as a guide to see what differences there are between the two. It uses a DC powered relay from what...

    Home made amp trouble

the amp Hi, Doc, Thanks for your answer. I did give that some thought, but the amp doesn't have a fuse or fuseholder in it at the moment. I'd be afraid of what might happen if I just shorted them. About the only thing that I can do for the moment is try to make up some kind of schematic...

    AFTERBURNER

missing parts Some of the missing parts near the big caps could be the bleeder resistors. While I don't have the same amp as you, most better amps have the bleeder resistors to bleed off the power from the big caps as a safety item. That way, your caps are not storing all that energy. The...

    Home made amp trouble

Hi, guys, I picked up a homebrewed amp at the flea market last weekend. It's a 2 tube sweep tube amp with 6JS6C tubes in it. It uses a 6BQ5 tube as the keying circuit. It has the regular 110V power cord on it, but also has another cord coming out the back. That cord had about...
