I should probably trade my SA in, for a set of your speakers, they seem to be much more sensitive. ;)
Your issue does seem to point to a different problem though, unless you happen to have an ARES 2 with a fault that we haven't seen before.

See below: This is an ARES 2 that I have here. It is very clean, at better than -70dBc on the second harmonic.
I have posted some scope pictures (NPC OFF) in an earlier post that are very clean as well: https://www.worldwidedx.com/threads/anytone-ares-2.265547/post-832392

Guys, please exercise a great deal of caution here. Some of the information he gave in the video and what he thinks the menus are for, is incorrect.
And that second harmonic does not exist on my radios here. (Maybe this harmonic is because of the cap change OR the "alignment" of incorrect...
A quality PEP power meter will show you very close the the advertised AM power (between 55-60W PEP in my tests). So, don't worry!
These are a great rig for 10m, and also 12m after the modification.

I have a number of the Mizuho SSB/CW handhelds (I have 40/20/12/15/10/6m versions. I have never seen the 27Mhz AM version before! That's very cool.
I also have a few of the Abrecht/Magnum/Cherokee/Dragon 12/11/10m SSB handheld rigs from across the different generations. The old ones work much...
Yes, there has been talks... We need a new SSB handheld! If you agree, please send Anytone (Qixiang) an email, and tell them that you want a new SSB handheld to be made. They are listening.

Yes just a wee price difference! But I have a Anytone Graces (CS-47) too, and it's a very nice little radio. My point is that you can make an SSB rig that works great without traditional control knobs.
As long as your friends don't use Ranger radios, then you won't need to press the clarifier...
Depending on the way the UI is designed, it can work extremely well. Here is the best mobile SSB radio I have ever used, the Codan Envoy.
If a hand controller SSB 11/10m radio was released, I would get one. Same goes for a small SSB rig. AT-500M2 or SR-94HPC sized would be awesome.
If you are worried about power, the best thing you could do is get yourself a decent peak reading power meter. I can recommend this one (high accuracy, good price): https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/mtn-swrmeter
I have a coupe of these. They compare favourably to an LP-100A and Bird43 with...
Based on what you have said, I would strongly suggest that you do not mess with any adjustments in this radio.
The question is always: what power meter are you using, and what is your test setup?
(If I had to guess, I would say your radio is fine, and your power meter is not a real PEP meter...
One good reason: If you have the 6666 in a vehicle, and it powers ON and OFF with ignition, it would probably drive you crazy.
Also, if you wanted to maintain some beep functionality, but lower the level of the startup beep, you could add some resistance to this point (in series with the...
My 2c -They are not a disposable radio if you have the tools and knowledge to work with them. It's a new era for radios, that needs a new set of know-how to work with. Some people are getting caught out messing with new rigs despite the warnings from us all, so that's 100% on them.
I don't...
I have this cheap set and they are really good. It even came in a nice little box. You can make your own, but this is great value for money IMO.
