He's a big fan of the SRA-198 and I have one. The build quality and feel of the mic are great, but they are thin flat sounding mics, just plain anemic. I get its a noise canceling mic, but just didn't suit my voice well.

Nicky, By turning off everything did you actually flip off your main breaker? Also power line noise is pretty easy to diagnose. If you have an AM radio with a little ferrite bar antenna even better. I'd say your still at square one. Can you confirm that you actually cut your breaker off? Also...

I have one of these that seems to work fine, but it requires about 10 watts of dead key to fire(TX) anything below that it will not TX and close to 10 watts the relay will chatter on voice peaks.
