Winds today are 30 mph with gusts to 55 mph. So far, so good. Sirio says the new tornado is good to 93 mph (?). I can tell they never tested it here. This should be the last report unless something breaks. C'ya.

My bad. Checked all the connections on the coil. It may have helped, but not much. I then remembered that the one thing I hadn't done...... The darn RADIALS. Installed them and the SWR dropped, so low the radio can't measure it. Next step: run the VNA again. Expecting good things. Amazing...

Well, Turns out my PDC600 is bad. Actual SWR was around 3:1. My VNA says 2.6:1. Radio says 3+:1. My finals said C'ya. Now dead keys at 1 watt. I guess that's what I get for using a used antenna. Frustrating. Now to take it down and figure out what's wrong with the coil. C'ya.

I have read several posts on here about insulating the mast from the antenna. How is this done? Above the mast? beside the mast? On the mast? How far is far enough? Inquiring minds want to know. Cheers to all. John

More info. Lying on it's side, over a distance of 16' from the base, it bends about 4". I didn't say, but where the joints are, all the tubing overlaps, which should make them very strong. I also put a liter soda bottle over the coil to help protect it. Cheers to all.

Yesterday had winds of about 45 mph. After finishing the last joint, I stood it it up on the deck and compared it to the 8' fiberglass radioshack whip I'm currently using...... It was bending much less. About half as much. I think I might have to guy my push-up mast. Cheers to all.
