Looking For A New Antenna, Maco V-58 For 84.99

I have the V5000 version. Love it. Marconi how exactly does one seal the top of the connector? I have a rain / swr issue and I think you just nailed it.

Self-fusing tape. Andrew makes some that is pretty good, part number FT-TB, we use this to weather proof coax connections on cell site coax runs. Good stuff!! Can't get photos to load. Google it. It does work Great and is easy to put on. Works well even down here in central Florida where it has rained almost everyday this summer.

BB, here is what Wolf Radio does on his antenna feed point connectors. He puts clear epoxy over the top of the connector.

I think a liquid rubber or something waterproof and pliable might work better as long as it is UV resistant and doesn't get too hard over time.

I've used a product by Cross Devices, called "Stuf." It is a dielectric water proof, connector filler, that is non-corrosive/non-hardening Teflon paste that is water resistant, and goes right inside of the connector. When the connector is installed it fills all the voids, and sheds water away from the coax. It is easy to remove and is not messy when used sparingly. It has never failed me.

ive had a v5 for a year now i love it i took mine down for maintenance cleaned all the elements where they connect to each other put a chassis mount so239 changed the wire to a LMR 400 center wire added a homemade brass strip for the ring its a lil under a inch wide by an inch long bent it around the ring bolted it up and swr is 1.1 across the whole band tested it while it was down and talked 50+ miles away to a buddie 5ft off the ground i recommend the maco v5 antenna but if you really want a beter one getta 10k but for the money macos are sure hard to beat

also i used coax seal for the top of the connector to water proof and protect he center conductor and so239
