Does anyone have any comments on the Tram D42 mobile ..any thoughts as in how good they were, how good their receive was, modulation? anyway to add channels? ect

Comments?

Well, sure. It's really, really old. That alone makes the "cost of ownership" likely to be high. Unless it spent the last 26 or 27 years wrapped up in the proverbial "cool, dry place", it's a breakdown risk. How much depends on how many "miles" have already been put on it. No odometer to go by in a radio, so the mileage issue can be hard to pin down.

Another thing that makes them expensive to repair is that the Japanese factory that Tram hired to build it stopped producing CB radios over 25 years ago. Some parts will be hard to come by, which usually translates to "expensive" when you DO find them.

Not too different from fixing up a 1978 car to use as your daily driver. Won't be cheap, and might be less reliable if you don't spend enough.

Drifter8291. Based upon their schematics they were designed by people who knew what they were doing.

And you criticized someone for not answering his questions and yet did not answer any questions either. o_O Two posts in 2 1/2 years and all you could come up with was that the designers knew what they were doing?
